Dr. Appt Update

Well, didn't get an ultrasound, but we have our first one scheduled for the 27th of March. We'll get to hear the heartbeat then! Dr. said that everything looks fine and oh yes, I am really pregnant. That fact hit a little more today with the doctor confirming it. I feel like we have a little more freedom to celebrate. Well, it's late and I have a Pampered Chef show in the morning. Got to get my beauty rest.

The month of January, 2016…aka the month of challenge, or maybe we should call it the month of change. So much has happened to our family this month that we are living in survival mode. You know, I really wish that I was more consistent at blogging. I wish that every time I updated this wasn’t because we were in some sort of crisis. Cancer tests ahead

       Surreal. Very, very surreal. That’s the only word that I can think of for the past two months. I mean, what else do you feel when you’re trying to find out if you have cancer? Thyroid cancer to be exact. Apparently, thyroid cancer is one of, if not the most treatable cancer to have. A doctor actually said to me, “If you could choose a cancer, you would definitely want to choose thyroid cancer.” That didn’t help. And, even though it’s treatable, treatable meaning they just remove the entire organ, I’m still not comforted.                       I’ve kind of lost my faith in doctors. Now don’t get me wrong, I value the knowledge and opinion of doctors. If I wasn’t in my early thirties, I’d probably go back to school to be a doctor. I LOVE all things medical. Never knew I had this passion in high school or college. I never knew that I cared so much about how my body functioned until I had my second child. ...

When healing doesn't happen or does it?

I’ve grown up in a faith, a “religion,” a community that believes in miracles. Jesus did miracles. Fed 5,000 people from 5 loaves and 2 fish. Raised people from the dead. Made the lame man walk. Caused the blind man to see. Healed lepers. Cast out demons. Healed a man who seemed to be having seizures. Disappeared from crowds. Caused a hemorrhaging woman to stop bleeding. His disciples did miracles. Raised the dead. Healed the sick with a touch of their cloak. My question for so long was…would that ever happen to me? Would I ever be the recipient of healing, a miracle? I would venture to say that we all might want that. We all have something in our life that we would want God to look at and just fix, on the spot, no waiting, no mistakes. Hurt made whole. Then, God answered that question for me several years ago .
